John E.'s Big Fish !!

John loves to fish on Lake Keowee in Seneca...We go out on his parents pontoon boat, cruise the lake and have tons of fun...Here's a shot of his catch that day...

Best Sisters Ever !!

John's sisters Sue and Lori and the best sisters any girl could ever ask for !! I am blessed to have them both in my life !!

The Full Hagerman Ohana !!

This picture is taken in Seneca, South Carolina where John's parents live..It is in the upstate of South Carolina not far from Clemson University..We all got together when John's sister Sue and her husband Bud traveled from East Stroudsburg, PA to Seneca to have a family reunion..It was short and sweet but we all had a great time together..John's parents Carl and Kay are flanked by our family, Sue & Bud, John's sister Lori and her family, John's brother Carl Jr. and his family which includes nephew CJ and his wife Amy..I am blessed to have such a wonderful Hagerman ohana !!!

Aloha Oe Puna !!

Our dear friends Tiger and Diane lost their beloved Mom Puna last night...She is now in heaven reunited with her loved ones...Malama Pono Puna !!

John E. and Lisa K.

Hawaii June/July 2010!

Here are my pictures from our vacation home to Honolulu...We had the best time in the world and I did not want to leave Paradise...Thank you to all our wonderful family and friends who spent time with us, we love and miss you very much !! Aloha no and ahui o kakou..Until we meet again !!

Dylan, Grandpa and Josh !!

Our first visit with Grandpa who Josh has not seen since 2002 since his last visit to Honolulu...Dylan saw Grandpa in 2007 when his cousin Shane graduated..I told my Dad that he would be a midget compared to my boys and I was right !! It was a very happy reunion and the boys were happy to see Grandpa again !!

First Day at Sandy Beach !

Our first full day in Honolulu and we were headed to Sandy Beach..John loves to body surf there and the conditions were rough... high winds and huge waves..The red flags were out in full force and John of course went in...Dylan and Shane were monitoring the beach area and I wouldn't even get my feet wet...

Rabbit Island !

This is the beautiful view of Rabbit Island just off of Makapu'u Beach..

Aloha Gas Station

Yes, this gas station is really called Aloha...And yes, gas is really $3.33 a gallon there...It's the price you pay to live in Paradise !!

Night out in Waikiki !!

We enjoyed a delicious dinner at the Red Lobster with our very good friends Peter and Gigi Won...We hadn't seen each other in years and we had the best time playing catch up and enjoying each other's company...It was great to be able to spend lots of time with these wonderful people who open up their hearts to us always !! We love you Gigi and Peter !!

Josh at the Blowhole !!

Josh enjoyed watching the Blowhole waiting for the big waves to spout water..The day was very windy and rough, a lot of big waves..

Blowhole Lookout Point !

This lookout point is a great place to stop and watch the blowhole..When the huge waves come into the rocks it goes under and the force creates a blowhole..It's a great sight..Of course nobody listens to the sign that says " Danger ! Do not go beyond this wall..My family included !! " It's a pretty good cliff over that...

Blowhole Lookout Point !

This lookout point is very popular with the tourist especially the Japanese tourists. We got out to take pictures and all of a sudden I see John taking the opportunity to take pictures with the Japanese tourists..Then Dylan and Shane got into the picture too...The Japanese girls were very flattered and of course John did his best "hai doozo" impersonation !! That's John E...haha...

The Beach at Makapu'u !

Over on the windward side of the island is a beautiful beach called Makapu'u..It is frequented by the locals for bodysurfing..The beautiful coastline is mesmarizing and this was our route everyday into town...

Kim Chee Restaurant

In the town of Kaimuki there is a great Korean restaurant called Kim Chee II..You have your choice of Kalbi beef, teriyaki chicken and every korean delicacy you can imagine..and it's topped off by lots of kim chee..Yum..We took my dad there to celebrate Father's Day..My dad is pictured with the boys and I am pictured with my sister Patti..

John at Sandy's

John was a regular at Sandys when he lived in Honolulu..After being away for so long it usually takes him a few times to get his breath and stamina when we visit..Here he concentrates for awhile and had some great waves after that..He still got it !!

Sandy Beach !

Sandy Beach which is on the Koko Head side of Oah'u is the hot spot for bodysurfing or boogey boarding by the locals...It is not a beach for the tourist as the waves break onshore and it is quite dangerous..The lifeguards put red warning flags up and make PA announcements quite often to warn visitors of this..

Diamond Head Lookout !!

We stopped to check out the waves at Diamond Head..There's a great lookout point and the boys sat on the wall and enjoyed the sights...

Leonards Malasadas !!

In the town of Kapahulu there is a bakery called Leonards that has been there forever..I remember going there often as a child..Their speciality are malasadas which are little round doughnuts rolled in sugar...They are so delicious and a must eat when your in Honolulu !!

Hawaiian Canoe Regatta

Our first morning walk at Waimanalo there was a huge canoe regatta...This is a huge event in Hawaii where all the canoe clubs race their beautiful canoes and try to win the title...In Hawaii the kids usually grow up either paddling canoe or dancing hula.

Portugese Man O War !!

These Portugese Man O War are frequent visitors in the waters off of Waimanalo and Bellows beach..When it's extremely windy it blows these blue stingers onto the shore..Beware, when they sting it's bad...Every morning on my walk I would encounter approx. 8-10 of these on the beach...Lots of early morning popping of man o wars..

Sunday at Waimanalo Beach !!

What a gorgeous Sunday at the beach at Waimanalo...This is the beach right in front of Mom and Dad Gouveia's house..Tiger, Diane, Moya and the kids all came to spend the afternoon with us..After hours in the sun and ocean and a delicious lunch, add a little bit of volleyball and we were toast...What a awesome day with awesome friends!

Sunday at Waimanalo Beach !!

Here is the younger gang enjoying the surf at Waimanalo for hours !! Mana, Emma, Dylan and Alia...It's great how they can see each other once every year and still have the best time together !! Notice the Hawaiian Sun juice in their hand..The drink of the islands.... We love the Kaohi ohana !!

Sunday at Waimanalo Beach !

All for one and one for all !! Let's hear it for the mature volleyball gang having a great beach Sunday in Waimanalo...Moya, Lisa K, Diane and Tiger...So much fun !! Hands on the volleyball Tiger, not on Diane's opu...hahaha..

Kayaking to Mokulua Island- Lanikai Beach, Oahu

The infamous Lanikai beach not far from Kailua on the Windward side of Oah'u..A very popular beach and visited by the President when he goes to Hawaii...A very popular spot for people to rent kayaks and paddle out to the Mokes..

Kayaking to the Mokes- Lanikai Beach

Dylan teamed up in a kayak with Russ who is Tiger and Diane's nephew. Once they got to the Mokes they went swimming and explored...Talk about a Tiger tour !! haha..

Kayaking to the Mokes- Lanikai Beach

John and Tiger teamed up in one kayak and on their way back they encountered a honu. (turtle) John got out of the kayak and was able to swim near it...Talk about unbelievablel !!

Kayaking to the Mokes- Lanikai Beach

Here is a picture of the gang kayaking at Lanakai..Dylan, John, Tiger and Diane..

Reverend Tiger ? ?

Tiger looks like he's got this couple in the palm of his hand !! Lots of Japanese couples from Japan will fly over to get married on Lanakai beach..The whole package includes airfare, hotel, wedding, pictures, limo etc...It's a very common sight..
